Interaction During Non-School Time

"Interaction During Non-School Time"

By: Manuel R. CortezRodas

A student with a parent is out and about in town running errands when they run into the teacher.  Awkward and rare as this may be, it happens.  It is one of those moments when we realize that there is more than just been in school.  When these events take place we must first take into account that we are interacting in an off-school setting.  It would not be the time for the parent to begin a student-teacher conference, nor would it be the time for the teacher to begin a discussion of the student's grade.  There must be mutual respect for each others non-school time.  We must acknowledge that we are not in school and this is part of each persons personal time.
