It is a new year.

It is now 2019.

The first generation
of the 21st century
has come of age.

They were the first ones who  became educated in the eras of No Child Left Behind & Common Core State Standards.

Educators have prepared them for both College and Career through some very challenging times in education and beyond.

Educators will continue to prepare students so they can have the required knowledge and necessary tools needed to succeed.

We look to 2019 as a year of educational growth and development for educators and students, parents and administrators, stakeholders and leaders, and all who believe in education.

Can Every Student Succeed?

No Child Left Behind has been left behind as of 2015.

NCLB or No Child Left Behind set the course of education in the United States of America as we started a new century of American Education.  It encountered, almost intermediately, turbulent times and strong opposition, but never the less NCLB set the course and guided American Education in the 21st Century.  NCLB leaves education with a founding core of standardized academic instruction and student assessment, in addition to abundant statistical performance data.

Now, at the start of 2016, we begin anew with ESSA.

Every Student Succeeds Act brings with its implementation a much needed course correction, a "rerouting" if you will, of American Education in the 21st Century.  Before setting off on any journey it is wise to prepare and pack what might be needed to be able to complete it.  It is also wise to plan a path to take to reach such destination.  But not until setting off on the path of this journey can it be seen what obstacles may lie ahead.  Even when the path is known and well traveled, as education is, on occasion obstacles may arise that can prevent students from succeeding.  

Can Every Student Succeed?

For every student to succeed, all those who are taking part in education must be willing and able to collaborate toward making education an accessible priority at all ages and at each level of learning through our funding and support.  Having every student succeed is a great challenge that is well worth achieving and ensuring its continuity.  All who take part in education can make it possible for every student to succeed.

The Promotion of No Child Left Behind

Earlier this month, the United States Congress passed the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).  
This act of congress was presented to President Obama, who signed it into law.  

This now brings an end to the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) federal legislation, approved by congress and signed into law by President W. Bush which was the standard of education from January 2002 to December 2015.

There are many questions that are worth looking back on with regard to No Child Left Behind.  

Was NCLB a success or a failure? To ask this another way: Does NCLB merit a pass or fail?  Perhaps a letter grade would be more accurate to rate this policy that was in effect for 13 years?  Did NCLB meet its own standard of achievement?  

These make for great educational policy discussion and further analysis.  How did the United States approach education at the turn of the millennium and set its course at the beginning of the 21st century.

No Child Left Behind established an era of education accountability through standards, testing, and by providing the public with information on student and school performance.  

NCLB took effect during difficult times following the September 11 attack.  This caused a significant impact in American life and also in education.  

Further along the time of NCLB, the recession, a near economic collapse, took place, also causing a significant impact in American life and education.  

After guiding U.S. education for over a decade, NCLB had to be changed, needed to be replaced, made a significant impact on American life and education.
