A New Year in Education

It is 2023 and the new year has began without missing a step.  It is something that education must also do.  Education must continue to smoothly flow without missing any steps.  If steps are missed, or skipped, the educational path that students travel will be incomplete.  This can lead to veering off the path, missing out on key knowledge or skills, and possibly getting stranded on the side as other students continue on.

Educators can help students stay on their educational path by ensuring there are no missed steps as they progress on their journey.  Careful planning is key to helping students succeed in reaching the end of their journey.  Not only planning lessons and meeting state standards, but also planning for school breaks and encouraging students to pursuit education on their own.  Providing them with resources that are reliable, accurate, and within their level of comprehension is a great way to help students remain on the educational path and, in some instances, help them sprint ahead towards the end goal of achieving academic and personal success.

As the year begins educators should take time to plan and develop on ramps and new paths that continuously guide students towards the end of the school year and beyond.

January 2019

It is a new year.

It is now 2019.

The first generation
of the 21st century
has come of age.

They were the first ones who  became educated in the eras of No Child Left Behind & Common Core State Standards.

Educators have prepared them for both College and Career through some very challenging times in education and beyond.

Educators will continue to prepare students so they can have the required knowledge and necessary tools needed to succeed.

We look to 2019 as a year of educational growth and development for educators and students, parents and administrators, stakeholders and leaders, and all who believe in education.

December 2018

Winter is Here.

We have reached the end.

The end of 2018, and what a year it has been.

It is time to look back upon the memories that we have made throughout the year; going back to that Monday on January 1st, when we rang in the new year with wishes of happiness and hope.

December not only bring s with it the end of the year, but in education it provides the opportunity to take a break during Winter and make an assessment that allows for corrections and adjustments in a student's educational path and , if needed, create new learning opportunities to meet set goals to be achieved by the end of the school year.

January 2017

Educator, MRCR Education.
Welcome

We counted down around the world towards midnight on December 31st, 2016 to welcome the new year.  2017 arrived with the fanfare given to each new year celebration and we turn to it with hope and a positive outlook.  Across the US educators and students enjoyed their much deserved Winter Break, and are now in the process of getting ready to go back to school also with hope and a positive outlook.

Goals

MRCR Education has taken time during this Winter Break to look back and reflect on the goals that were set when we began the school year and how we are doing in reaching each of these goals.  MRCR Education continues to make education a priority for all and remains committed to share its experience in English Learners, STEAM, and HAST education.

English Learners

Learning English is the most important skill that newcomers face.  The acquisition of language skills and knowledge will allow students to become successful in school and as they continue on their path towards both college and career.  It will allow them to create and develop a bridge of communication between the education they have acquired thus far and that which they are currently receiving.

STEAM Education

STEAM education continues to become an integral part of the curriculum across many schools.  As we continue to embrace the idea that interconnecting disciplines leads to critical thinking and problem solving skills, STEAM will also continue to lead the way we approach teaching this methodology to our students.

HAST Education

There is no time like the present to put forth the humanities in all academic areas and levels of education.  HAST, like STEAM, allows for a new approach to achieve this while maintaining high educational standards that allow students to also develop social skills that are critical to become successful members of society such as leadership, empathy, grit, and self-discipline.

Looking Ahead

We look forward to continue to share with you our thoughts and ideas as well as welcome your views, input, and feedback.  Thank you for your continued support by visiting our website MRCR Education Site, blog MRCR Education Blog , and Twitter feed MRCR Education on Twitter.  We wish all Educators, Administrators, Teachers, Coaches, Support Staff, Students, Parents, Mentors, and all leaders and stakeholders in education a wonderful and successful 2017.  Looking forward to the class of 2017 to complete their journey in the near future.

Starting the Year (Part 2)

Classroom Status

Author: Manuel R. CortezRodas

As noted previously, educators have 6 months from now until Year-End's graduation.  A large portion of this time will be taking place in our schools and classrooms.  Educators not only need to take the time to map out and plan the next 6 months, but also need to take the time to review the status of the classroom.  After all, this is the place where we, and our students, will be spending a large portion of our education time.

  • Structure
  1. Take a tour of your own classroom.
  2. How does it look on the first day of the year?
  3. How did it look on the first day of school?
  4. How can the classroom be improved?
  • Weather
  1. From the cold of winter to the heat of summer.
  2. Check for heating during winter and cooling for summer.
  3. Can students be comfortable indoors during bad weather.
  • Lighting
  1. Sunlight continues to increase as we move toward summer.
  2. Indoor lighting should be adequate for visual reception.
  3. Spring should remind us with its equinox that outdoors and indoors are equal.
  • Basic Supplies
  1. Paper and pencil are still the most basic supplies needed for education.
  2. Pens and colors provide a new dimension of professionalism and art.
  3. Boards, both writing and bulletin.   They provide communication.

Educators will spend the next 6 months in their classrooms.  As we begin the new year, and prepare to get back into these places of learning, let us take a look at our classroom status, to ensure that these places of learning have all that is needed, from the basics like pencils and paper, to the advanced like LCD projectors and climate control.  We should request the supplies that are needed, replenish the ones we have exhausted, and share with others the surpluses we won't need.  Let us prepare the place where we will spend our time learning.
