Winter is Here.

We have reached the end.

The end of 2018, and what a year it has been.

It is time to look back upon the memories that we have made throughout the year; going back to that Monday on January 1st, when we rang in the new year with wishes of happiness and hope.

December not only bring s with it the end of the year, but in education it provides the opportunity to take a break during Winter and make an assessment that allows for corrections and adjustments in a student's educational path and , if needed, create new learning opportunities to meet set goals to be achieved by the end of the school year.

We have crossed the midpoint of the most condensed month in the school year.

Super Bowl, Lunar New Year, Valentine's Day, President's Day Weekend, a dedication to the contributions of African Americans, and many other events and recognitions that take place in this the month that every four years fluctuates between 28 and 29 days in length.

Educators prepare to enter the final phase, in the stretch that will be March, to prepare students as they get ready to demonstrate their skills and knowledge as measured by state standards.

We begin to phase out of winter and into spring.

Educators begin to look for spring blossoms.

December 2016

It is finally here!

The final month of the year is here.

December has arrived and with it this year we have known as 2016 comes to an end.

In education we are coming back from the Fall break, and heading into the Winter break, while trying to do as much learning as possible in the little time in between.

There will be those who will attempt to dismiss all learning until we return next year, but we must not let this take place.

There is too much to loose if we do not continue on not just in learning, but in time and effort.

This is a challenging time for students, teachers, parents, administrators, and all who make education possible, but we can all continue to support each other just a little bit longer, then we can all head into the winter break, the final break of the year, knowing and feeling well about where we are in our educational path.

Before we all head off into that wonderful winter break, and holiday parties, let's make sure that we have done our best so we may close the year in an equal manner.

Falling into Winter

The leaves are falling off the trees and on to the ground.

The foliage takes fire in orange, yellow, and red hues.

There is a crisp cool air going through your hair,

temperature dropping, an iced cold chill.


Winter is approaching with precipitation.

Northern winds, snow, rainfall, and all the other forms of storms.

It is the best time to huddle by the warmth of knowledge.

And know that Spring is only but a season away.

Winter Break

Winter break can bring to mind some of the following:

• The end of 2014.
• Last school week of the year.
• Last school day of 2014.
• Time off.
• Special time.

People get tired.  Fatigue begins to build up over time.  It accumulates until the point of exhaustion is reached.  Once this point is crossed, complete collapse is, perhaps, the most probable outcome for a person.

This is why people need breaks.  To recharge, to recuperate, to review, to rest.  Breaks are a part of the education process.  The education process, however, does not take a break.  There is great potential for learning, studying, teaching, and becoming further educated during breaks.

This winter break, while resting from being tired, as learners, students, and teachers, continue, as best as possible, the ongoing educational process.  This winter break it is up to the individual to determine how much further to continue along the path to education.
