September has arrived and we take time to remember the events of 9-11, celebrate the arrival of autumn, and honor the achievements and contributions of Hispanic people and their culture.

Schools have now completed the back to school welcoming of students.  Now focus must shift to assessing student's grade level performance in order to prepare lessons that will help address achievement gaps and elevate struggling students up to performance level.

October 2020

October is here and with it comes a change in the weather as we are surrounded by the color-changing foliage of the autumn and fall season.

Schools continue to develop and implement plans to welcome back students to schools and classrooms while taking the necessary precautions to prevent further spread of COVID-19.

The "Fall Classic" brought a great World Series between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Los Angeles Dodgers with the Dodgers winning the championship since 1988. Congratulations!

It has also been a very active political month as the U.S. gets ready to vote in November's General Election with the highest office of the land, The Presidency, on the ballot this year.  Make sure that you vote.

Finally, the great finale of October, Halloween, will have to be a bit different this year.  So let your creativity be your expression while at the same time staying safe.

Don't forget to set back your clocks an hour as we return to Standard time and say good-bye to Daylight-Savings time.

September 2019

As we reach the end of September, MRCR Education takes a look back at what this month has been like.

To start, Labor Day.  A day in which we reflect on the importance of the labor educators do.  From meeting over the summer to get classrooms ready and gathering the necessary supplies to begin the year, to writing and revising lesson plans so they are up to date, to welcoming colleagues and students both former and new, educators have been laboring long and hard to ensure that we can provide the best education possible and make it available to all.

Halfway through September began the Latin American/Hispanic Heritage Month celebration where we acknowledge and recognize the contributions made by the peoples and cultures from the southern most points in Chile and Argentina, to the mountainous terrains of Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Peru, the volcanic backbone of the Central American Isthmus, the Caribbean islands of Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic, and all the current and historic regions of the former Mexican Empire.

Finally, we officially say goodbye to Summer and welcome Fall with its "Autumn Wind" just as baseball enters its Fall Classic and Football's gridiron returns.

Fall is in its beginning stages as leaves change color then fall.

Autumn makes its presence felt with a cool night and a cold front.

Indigenous People are recognized, honored, and remembered.

Halloween serves to reminds us of innocence and death.

October 2017

October arrives bringing changing winds as varied as the changes in the colors of the foliage of the autumn fall.

October is harvest time.  We take time to celebrate these festivities.  We also begin to prepare for the winter cold.

In California education the results of the latest CAASPP results are being reviewed and analyzed to better help our students continue to develop those 21st century skills that are needed to succeed in both college and career.  A roadmap, that will help English learners in their path to language proficiency, begins to take shape.  We prepare for possible emergencies by taking part in practice drills like the Great California ShakeOut.

October is a great time to transition into a different gear and make course corrections & adjustments as students, teachers, parents, administrators, and staff continue to drive further into the school year.

Falling into Winter

The leaves are falling off the trees and on to the ground.

The foliage takes fire in orange, yellow, and red hues.

There is a crisp cool air going through your hair,

temperature dropping, an iced cold chill.


Winter is approaching with precipitation.

Northern winds, snow, rainfall, and all the other forms of storms.

It is the best time to huddle by the warmth of knowledge.

And know that Spring is only but a season away.

1st Day of Autumn

Today is the first day of autumn.
The foliage is changing colors,
soon the leaves will fall.

But which leaf will fall first?
Who will be the first leaf to leave 
the tree branch where it once was held?

The chlorophyll is slowly waning.
Soon the clouds will begin raining.
Green yields to orange, red, and brown.

They will no longer be photosynthesizing,
but they will still be metamorphosizing.
Decomposing its nutrients into the top soil.

Today is the first day of autumn.
The foliage is changing colors,
Soon the leaves will fall.
