Time keeps marching on and March welcomes Spring.

Clocks have been sprung forward yet again, but why?

While Winter Weather lingers into Spring, with Rain and Wind.

The flowers have started to blossom,

Inhaling us with Inspiration.

Filling us with Hope.

As we await the birth of the Sun...

and the Summer months.

March has marched into the calendar bringing Spring along with a renewed sense of hope as more and more people choose to get vaccinated for COVID-19 that will significantly reduce the number of patients who will end up in the ER or an ICU allowing counties to fall into the lower tiers of red, orange, and eventually yellow.

These are much needed good news as a year ago counties began to enforce stay at home orders, schools and businesses were forced to shutdown, and eventually California made the decision to impose statewide measures.

Now, we are slowly trying to get back to the daily activities we have missed so much over the past year, from siting down at our favorite diner, to seeing old classmates and coworkers whose faces became squares in a grid of online meeting apps.

The challenge is far from over and we must remain cautious and informed as the situation may change given the nature of viruses and their ability to adapt, mutate, and survive, but we are up to the challenge and we will continue to gain knowledge and research new methods that will help us in the end defeat this foe.

March has come marching in!

It is time to transition from Winter into Spring.
It is time to Spring Forward into Daylight Savings Time.
It is time for Mardi Gras, Ash Wednesday, and Lent.
It is time for Pi Day and St. Patrick's Day.
It is time for March Madness and, of course, Baseball.

We are 3 months away from the end of the school year.
We are preparing students for testing and assessment.
We are doing all we can to help students learn.
We are collaborating and sharing best practices.
We are getting ready to graduate the Class of 2019.

It is time.  We are ready.
It is time.  We are prepared.
It is time.  We are learning.
It is time.  We are studying.
It is time.  We are teaching.

The days continue to grow longer as the seasons transition from the last days of Winter to the first days of Spring.

March has sprung up into our calendars and it is time for students and educators alike to put a spring into their step as we approach the last few months of the school year.

It has already been a busy month as an hour was lost during the spring forward to daylight savings time.

Across the country students organized a student walkout to show support for those students lost in the Florida tragedy.

Women's History Month serves to remind us of the significant contributions women have made in a variety of professional fields, society and human endeavor.

The festivities of St. Patrick's Day, with its green shamrocks, take place as we partake in the celebrations from the Emerald Isle.

Baseball diamonds, from little league to the pros, roll out their green grass fields as we root for our favorite teams.

Madness takes over as brackets are filled and Cinderella stories develop in college basketball.

All this and more goes on in March as education continues its forward progress towards the end of school, the promotion of students into the next grade level, and the class of 2018 prepares to don their caps and gowns and receive their diplomas, certificates and degrees.

As we welcome Spring, and await the arrival of the last school breather known as Spring Break, we take time to do some last course corrections and fix our headings before unfurling our sails towards the sunset of the 2017-18 school year.

We are now in the middle of March and spring time is upon us.

By now we have adjusted out clocks to Daylight Savings time as we Spring forward towards the few final months of the school year.

As educators we try to avoid becoming as mad as the March Hare as students begin to feel that summer is getting near.

We take a day to honor "our" Irish heritage by wearing green and sporting shamrocks and trinkets that add to the festivities of St. Patrick's Day.

College basketball fans fill and check their brackets as the many tournaments take place.

Soon, there will be baseball fans that go "root-root-root for the home team", as teams wrap up their Spring training and get set for the season.

March marches on and we go along with it as we dig deep down for that last stretch of education that leads to graduation, promotion, and placement into classes for the next year.

We have crossed the midpoint of the most condensed month in the school year.

Super Bowl, Lunar New Year, Valentine's Day, President's Day Weekend, a dedication to the contributions of African Americans, and many other events and recognitions that take place in this the month that every four years fluctuates between 28 and 29 days in length.

Educators prepare to enter the final phase, in the stretch that will be March, to prepare students as they get ready to demonstrate their skills and knowledge as measured by state standards.

We begin to phase out of winter and into spring.

Educators begin to look for spring blossoms.

As we begin the month of April, and our students return from spring break, we position ourselves and enter the final home stretch.

Another education year is coming to an end and graduation, or promotion, should be bestowed upon students who meet or exceed the necessary requirements.

Assessment becomes the process by which the knowledge and understanding of our students is measured.

By assessing what has been learned and studied by students, and taught by teachers and administrators, we can determine the value of the education that has been provided throughout the school year.

As we begin the final chapters of the class of 2016, we should take account of all that has taken place in their education, not just in the classroom, but outside of it too.

Hike Up

Hiking Up

We have sprung into action, seek council, set goals, done path planning, and now it is time to hike up, toward our goal and back.  It is now time to take our place on the road.  It is now time to begin our journey toward that educational goal that we have set and plan to reach.  It is now time to take action, and hike.

As we hike we can begin to see if the path we have planned is  clear and defined.  We can begin to see how good our road-map is.  It is now when the obstacles and challenges that we have and have not prepared for may appear.  We must do what we can to continue hiking up to our goal.

One last chance is presented to us just prior to setting off on a hike.  Do we go?  If we are ready, and we are sure, and we are confident that we have done all that we can to prepare, then we should go on with our hike and toward our goal.

Did we reach our goal?  Were we able to succeed in reaching the goals that we set and planned?  and if we did not, what can we do to reach our goal? do we need to seek more council? do we need to plan another path? As we go on with our hike, these are some of the concerns that we must maintain in mind.  There are many others that we may come across, and some that we cannot anticipate to accurately predict in the future.  But we must hike up to our goal, even if we need to stop.

If we were able to reach our goal, then we must also be able to return back safely to our place of origin, this will consist a successful hike.  We now evaluate our hike and learn from it.  We can now decide if the hike was indeed successful.  Was the hike a good path to reach our goal?  How was our hike? We learn from each individual experience, the experience of the whole, and what we learn, we share again in council, a council in which we can also decide if we are going to hike again, and if so, when.
