As November comes to a close, we look back at the month that was.
We honored and thanked veterans for their service on Veteran's Day.
Educators and students took a well deserved break for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Friends and family gathered to share a meal during Thanksgiving.
And we continued to process the dismal results of the latest CAASPP.
We look forward to December and the closing of another year.

As the end of September is reached, education is back in full stride.
Long gone are the nerves and anticipation of that first day of school.
Schedule adjustments have been made and classes have been filled.
Classmates are back together and new students have been welcomed.
The goals for the new year have been established with available support.
That slow descent back to school now has solid ground beneath our feet.
This is the foundation that will provide a safe and secure educational path.
Grounded in good study habits, our determination to complete the journey, and the encouragement from teachers, piers, and all who support us.

It has become quite clear so far this decade that change in education can take place almost instantaneously, and in order to ensure educational success adaptation must also match the rate of change.
COVID clearly demonstrated this as it lead to schools shutting down, followed by remote and distant learning, and a return to in-classroom instruction. Change took place swiftly and quick at an unprecedented scale. Adaptation, on the other hand, was unable to match the rate of change and the result has been a learning loss that may not be able to be completely recovered.
Change does not have to be so extreme, but it can take on many forms: A new student in the classroom, an old teacher leaving school, administrators transferring into new positions, etc.
Adaptation can be most successful when values are shared and cherished rather than imposed or demanded.

What is an effective way to transition from planning and implementation to completion of a project? Which roadblocks will attempt to stand in the way to reaching completion? How does the transition process look like? These are the questions that will be addressed in this post.
Effective Transition
-Your team has planned and implemented a new program and now it is time to have it reach a conclusion. It is now time to collect and analyze data from students for the purpose of ensuring that the goals of the project are being achieved. How will the data reflect the success of the goals that were set? What is the measure of success? Data holds a project accountable, and also illustrates areas where improvement is needed.
Roadblocks
-How will the data be collected and interpreted? What standard will be used to measure success, failure, or inconclusiveness? If something beyond our control takes place will the project collapse, readjust, or have the plasticity to adapt to a new environment? Was there something that was overlooked during the planning and implementation phase of the project?
Transition Process
-Who will lead the transition process and how will it be implemented? Leadership requires experience, guidance, patience, and discipline to succeed. The team should select someone who meets these criteria and will have the support of the team. It will require time to transition in addition to a concrete plan that is feasible and measurable.

It is 2023 and the new year has began without missing a step. It is something that education must also do. Education must continue to smoothly flow without missing any steps. If steps are missed, or skipped, the educational path that students travel will be incomplete. This can lead to veering off the path, missing out on key knowledge or skills, and possibly getting stranded on the side as other students continue on.
Educators can help students stay on their educational path by ensuring there are no missed steps as they progress on their journey. Careful planning is key to helping students succeed in reaching the end of their journey. Not only planning lessons and meeting state standards, but also planning for school breaks and encouraging students to pursuit education on their own. Providing them with resources that are reliable, accurate, and within their level of comprehension is a great way to help students remain on the educational path and, in some instances, help them sprint ahead towards the end goal of achieving academic and personal success.
As the year begins educators should take time to plan and develop on ramps and new paths that continuously guide students towards the end of the school year and beyond.

The new year has begun and it brought a river of precipitation to establish its mighty atmospheric presence. With it a reminder that, uncontrolled, large volumes of water will flow towards the lower levels making its own destructive path if necessary.
It also kicked off the celebration of the lunar year of the cat and rabbit, depending on one's culture, and a mighty green comet that last visited nearly 50,000 years ago.
Here is to a 2023 filled with possibilities for students, teachers, parents, administrators and educators everywhere.
